Ons Jabeur has brilliantly qualified in the US Open final last night by laminating the French Caroline Garcia in two sets (6-1, 6-3) and will play her second Grand Slam final after Wimbledon.
At the post-match press conference, the future world number 2 returned to its semi-final won brilliantly, but also spoke of the final on Saturday against the world’s number 1, the Polish Iga Swiatek.
“I really made a big match. I had decided to follow the advice of my 100% coach for the first time and it was a good idea. He had nothing to say after the match. I knew that Caroline Garcia was in full confidence and so I had to impose my entrance game. And it worked very well, until the end, “she said.
“My coach (Issam Jellali) told me to play a lot on the reverse of Caroline Garcia because she is very dominating with her forehand. I had to focus on playing on one side. He also told me a lot about his service. I knew she would attack all the time. ”
Ons Jabeur logically said he was satisfied with her game and the way she managed her semi-final. The Tunisian is also delighted to confirm after her lost final in Wimbledon and this time hopes to win her first Grand Slam.
“In Wimbledon, I was in a dream, I couldn’t believe it. I did not realize that what I did was already an extraordinary accomplishment. But this time, I think I have used it a little, I am happy to have confirmed my Wimbledon results, “she said, talking about the final on Saturday.
“People are not really surprised to see me again in the final. Maybe now I know what to do in the final. It will be very hard, but I will have to do my best. I undoubtedly learned from all the finals that I played and in particular the last, in Wimbledon. I will give everything. And I’m here to get the title. ”
