The announcement by national television of the launch of a new program entitled Community Tunisia quickly ignited social networks. The program, which intends to highlight the community enterprise project supported by the President of the Republic, has provoked contrasting reactions, revealing a growing sensitivity around this system which is still difficult to deploy on the ground.
For its detractors, this launch reflects a biased editorial choice. Some Internet users believe that public television would thus seek to align itself with the priorities of the Palace of Carthage, in particular by giving greater visibility to one of the flagship projects of the Head of State.
Critics evoke a risk of slipping towards institutional communication rather than independent journalistic treatment.
Conversely, other voices consider that the show responds to a real need for explanation and education. The concept of community enterprise, supposed to encourage local, participatory and supportive economic models, continues to raise questions, especially as its implementation remains complex despite the announced incentives.
Several projects are struggling to get off the ground, in particular due to a lack of a clear operational framework, financing difficulties or insufficient support from initiative leaders.
Enlighten the public
The show, according to its promoters, aims to enlighten the public on the objectives, mechanisms and challenges of the system, by giving voice to its actors. It remains to be seen whether it will succeed in establishing itself as a pluralist information space or whether it will be perceived as a tool for political promotion, in a context where the role of public media is the subject of increased attention.
