The file for the next Tunisian national coach is officially launched. After the recent vacancy of the position, the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF) began a phase of consultations and examination of applications, thus opening a highly contested ball between requested coaches and profiles who took the initiative to offer their services.
According to consistent information, several avenues are currently being studied. Some come directly from the Federation, through contacts established with targeted technicians, while others take the form of application files formally submitted to federal officials.
Philippe Troussier sent his file
Among the applications already approved is that of French technician Philippe Troussier. According to information obtained by Mosaïque FM, the 70-year-old coach’s file was transmitted to the sports management of the national team as well as to a member of the federal office, through his agent.
A recognized figure in international football, Philippe Troussier has a significant track record in selection. He notably led Japan to the round of 16 of the 2002 World Cup and won the Asian Cup in 2000. In Africa, he managed several selections, including Morocco, South Africa (World Cup 1998) and Burkina Faso, with whom he won fourth place during the 1998 CAN. He is also familiar with Tunisian football having coached the Sfaxien Sports Club in 2014.
In addition to this formalized application, other coaches, Tunisian and foreign, would appear on the Federation’s short list. Some would be actively contacted, while others would wait for an official signal before taking a position. At this stage, the FTF observes strict discretion, prioritizing the evaluation of sports profiles and projects before any public communication.
According to sources close to the matter, the Federation is looking for a coach capable of relaunching the dynamic of the selection, imposing a clear playing identity and effectively preparing for the next continental and international events, in a context marked by high public expectations.
A strategic and expected choice
The choice of the next coach promises to be decisive. He will have to meet high sporting demands, but also deal with the realities of Tunisian football, both structurally and generationally. Time is running out, and a decision could be made in the coming weeks, once all the applications have been studied.
While waiting for the official announcement, the ball remains open, and the race for the Carthage Eagles bench has only just begun.
