The 9th day of the Ligue 1 championship started this Friday with two contrasting posters. The African club did the necessary to beat AS Gabes outside (0-1) and settle alone at the top of the ranking. In Metlaoui, an electric match between ESM and US Ben Guerdane gave birth to a draw (1-1), marked by two penalties, two expulsions and extreme tension until additional time.
On the lawn of AS Gabes, the African club struck early. Firas Chaouat scored the only goal of the match in the 21st minute, sufficient to offer three precious points to the clubists.
However, the meeting was marked by a controversy: in the 70th minute, AS Gabes thought of equalizing, but video arbitration canceled the goal for an offside position. Despite the pressure of the premises at the end of the game, the CA held out and temporarily takes the lead with 19 points.
The second match of the day held all its promises in intensity. Reduced to ten from the 25th minute after the expulsion of Islem Gasmi, ES Métlaoui has long suffered. US Ben Guerdane opened the scoring in the 74th minute on a penalty spot, after a first attempt by Adem Taoues repulsed and then to be removed for a footing of the goalkeeper.
But ESM has torn the equalization in additional time (90+7 ‘), thanks to Ahmed Ouled Bahi, also on penalty. The tension rose with a notch with a second expulsion, that of Iyed Touis for Ben Guerdane in the 82nd minute, and an endless additional time of 15 minutes.
