The academic and historian M’hamed Hassine Fantar, said that General Carthaginian Hannibal never carried the shield drawn on the Tunisian selection jersey at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
He clarified, at the microphone of Mosaic FM, this Sunday, December 11, 2022, that this shield “is of Italian manufacture”, adding that it was “bought and carried by one of the soldiers of Hannibal”.
And to add: “When this soldier returned to Tunisia, he was buried with the shield. Hannibal wore many shields, but none of them was kept. ”
M’hamed Hassine Fantar estimated that Hannibal’s grave would be, most likely, in the Turkish city of Izmit ”.
