The relegation of the Metlaoui in Ligue 2 made waves. At a time when strong suspicions weigh on the result of the match which opposed the Zarzis to the Hammam-Sousse (1-1), the supporters of the Etoile Sportive de Metlaoui, reacted violently.
The draw of their team (0-0) against Olympique de Béja, allowed its maintenance in Ligue 1, but a goal scored in the 90 ‘+10 has turned everything upon, relegating the ESM. Angry, Metlaoui supporters blocked road number 3 connecting Tozeur to Tunis, in protest.
They burned tires, causing the disruption of traffic, and clashes took place between them and the police, which forced the latter to use tear gas to disperse them. Three security officers were slightly injured following these incidents.
