FIFA ranking: Tunisia rises to 40th place

Tunisia rose three places in the November FIFA rankings, published Wednesday evening, to reach 40th place in the world. This progression comes after a series of convincing performances during the international window. At the African level, the selection led by Sami Trabelsi occupies 6th position.

A comeback driven by a series of solid matches

The new world hierarchy, unveiled by FIFA, keeps Spain in the lead ahead of Argentina, France, England and Brazil which is progressing to 5th place. Tunisia, for its part, gained three places thanks to a lively month of November: draw against Mauritania (1-1), victory against Jordan (3-2) in Radès, then a courageous match against Brazil ended with a 1-1 in Lille, offering the Carthage Eagles significant international visibility.

Tunisia’s progression takes place in a competitive continental context: Morocco remains the best African team (11th, +1), followed by Senegal, Egypt, Algeria and Nigeria, all better ranked than Tunisia but in a narrow margin.

A rise in power as major deadlines approach

Beyond the symbol, this ranking has a strategic issue: it will be used for the draw for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled for December 5 in Washington. The improvement in the ranking could therefore offer Tunisia a more favorable placement in the hats.

The Carthage Eagles now face two crucial competitions: the Arab Cup in Qatar (December 1-18, 2025), then the African Cup of Nations in Morocco (December 21, 2025-January 18, 2026). These tournaments will serve not only as preparation for the World Cup but also as a full-scale test to maintain the current dynamic.
