The Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sports has announced the dissolution of the executive office of the Tunisian basketball federation (FTBB).
According to an informed source within the ministry, relayed by the TAP agency, an temporary office was appointed to ensure the temporary management of the FTBB. This office is made up of Marouane Chaieb as president, accompanied by members such as Zouheir Mdini, Rafka Barkati, Saleh Ben Mbarek, Mohamed Amine Fadhli, Saber Souid and Samah Maki.
One of the main missions assigned to this temporary office is the convocation of a general meeting within three months from the date of this decision. It is important to note that members of the temporary office will not be able to present themselves in the elections for the new executive office of the Federation.
Although the precise reasons for this dissolution have not been officially detailed, this measure is part of a broader context of reforms and restructuring within Tunisian sports federations.
Similar decisions have been made recently, including the dissolution of the Federal Office of the Tunisian Tennis Federation for serious shortcomings.
The dissolution of the FTBB executive office could also be linked to internal tensions and criticism of the governance of the federation. For example, controversies surrounded Ali Benzarti’s unique candidacy for the 2024-2028 mandate, arousing debates on transparency and equity within the FTBB.
