For its entry into the 2025 Women’s World Cup, the Tunisian selection suffered a heavy defeat against France (18-43) in Group F, contested between the Netherlands and Germany.

Dominated from start to finish, the Tunisian players never found the rhythm against an imperial French team. Tunisia will now have to recover quickly before facing Poland and then China in an already decisive preliminary phase.

Overwhelming French superiority

The match, played on Friday, turned very early to the advantage of France, whose defensive intensity and speed of transition put Tunisia under pressure from the first minutes.

The Tunisians, although bronze medalists at the last African championship, increased their losses of ball, offering the French numerous counter-attacks converted without difficulty.

In the second half, despite a few Tunisian offensive bursts, French domination remained total, bringing the final score to 18-43. A tough entry into competition for the Tunisian players, faced with one of the world’s heavyweights in the discipline.

In the group’s other meeting, Poland easily beat China (36-20), reinforcing the idea of fierce competition for the qualifying places.

Mind set on what comes next

The level gap with France remains significant, but the competition has only just begun. The announced objective is now to react on Sunday against Poland, a solid opponent but more accessible than the Blues.

France and Poland temporarily occupy the lead in Group F with 2 points each, while Tunisia and China bring up the rear with zero points.

The Tunisian calendar promises to be busy: Poland on November 30 at 3:30 p.m., then China on December 2 at 6:30 p.m. A victory in either of these duels would allow Tunisia to remain in the race for qualification to the main round.
