The former coach of the Tunisian national team and several national and foreign clubs, Bertrand Marchand, died yesterday on Saturday August 26, 2023, at the age of 70.
The late began his coach career in 1985, but his name especially shone during his visit to the Sahel star, with which he won the CAF Champions League in 2007, and reached the semi-finals of the Club World Cup which took place in Japan the same year.
He also won with the same team the Super Cup of Africa, before deciding, in 2008, to embark on a new experience when he was at the head of the technical staff of the Qatari club in Al-Khour, for two seasons.
Back in Tunisia in 2010, he will take the reins of the Carthage Eagles, but will be removed from his duties following two defeats and two draws suffered during the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations in 2012, to take charge later the Raja of Casablanca.
Before his death, Bertrand Marchand had health problems, following an attack which forced him to undergo treatment in a hospital in the French capital, Paris.
Peace to his soul.
