A financing agreement was concluded between Tunisia and China to revive the project to reconstruct the Olympic stadium of El Menzah, announced Wan Li, Chinese ambassador to Tunisia. This partnership marks a decisive step in the modernization of one of the country’s most emblematic sports infrastructure.

During an interview with the TAP agency, the Chinese ambassador confirmed that Tunisia has sent a feasibility study report detailing the different stages of the stadium. This document is currently analyzed by Chinese companies involved in the implementation of the project.

To facilitate the progress of the work, these companies have requested additional documents from the Tunisian authorities. These technical exchanges aim to guarantee a better understanding of structural needs and to adapt resources to local requirements.

Despite the current administrative procedures, Wan Li said he was optimistic about the evolution of the file. He stressed that the joint efforts of the two countries will make this major project in the coming months.

The reconstruction of the El Menzah stadium is part of a broader desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Tunisia and China, especially in the field of sports and public infrastructure. This project, once completed, will offer a modernized infrastructure that meets international standards, capable of hosting large -scale sporting events.

Inaugurated in 1967 to host the Mediterranean Games, the El Menzah Olympic stadium is an emblematic place in Tunisian sport. However, over the years, it has suffered from a progressive degradation requiring a complete renovation to ensure its upgrading and preserving its historical heritage.

Thanks to this financing agreement, Tunisia hopes to give back to the stadium its central role in the national sports landscape while strengthening the links of economic cooperation with China.

The next steps of the project will depend on the finalization of the required documents and the final validation of the execution plans, thus opening the way to an effective start of the work.
