The Moroccan Handball Federation indicated that Moroccan teams will not take part in African competitions in the discipline which will be organized in Tunisia.
In a statement published this Monday, August 29, the Moroccan Handball Federation announced that it has decided to cancel the participation of the “Widad is” in the Arab Champion Championship championship, scheduled from September 17 to 27, in Tunis, as well as the participation of the “Raja Agadir” club in the African Handball Champions League, scheduled for September 28 to October 10, in Tunis.
It should be recalled that the Royal Moroccan Federation of Karate and Associated Discipline had announced, on Saturday evening, the cancellation of its participation in the North African Karate Championship which will take place from September 07 to 11 in Tunisia.
These decisions come following the diplomatic incident between Tunisia and Morocco, which occurred at the Tokyo International Conference on Development in Africa (Ticad 8) following the reception of the Polisario chief by the President of the Republic, Kais Saied.
Indeed, Morocco had summoned its ambassador to Tunisia, Hassan Tarek, after the reception of the chief of the Polisario by President Kaïs Saïed, as part of the Tokyo International Summit for Development in Africa (Ticad 8).
The kingdom considered this reception as a “dangerous and unprecedented act”.
Tunisia’s response was not long in coming. Tunis had summoned his ambassador to Morocco on Saturday for consultations on Saturday, rejecting the content of the press release from Moroccan diplomacy accusing Tunisia of adopting an aggressive position towards Morocco, and of affecting Moroccan interests.
