Tunisian clubs have opened their African campaign this weekend with various fortunes in the first preliminary round of continental competitions. The US Monastir and the Sports Es tunis have largely dominated their opponents, while the Tunisian stadium remains on a relative advantage before the return matches.
Sunday at the Hamadi Agrebi stadium in Radès, the Monastirian sports union crushed the East End Lions (Sierra Leone) 4-0. This victory puts the Monastiians in excellent position for the return match scheduled for next Sunday.
The sporting Es tunis took over on the ASFAN (Niger) 3-0 in Niamey. The Sang et Or will welcome the ASFAN next Saturday in Radès to try to validate their qualification.
Sahel star: a defeat to overcome
In Dar Es Salaam, the Sahel star lost 0-1 against the Sudanese of Al Ahli Madani, the goal of the meeting being scored in the 85ᵉ minute by Khaled Sanja. The expulsion of Adem Ouertani at the 90ᵉ complicates the task of the Tunisians, who will imperatively have to win on the return to Sousse next Saturday to hope to qualify.
The Tunisian stadium won 2-0 against ASC SNIM (Mauritania). The return match in Mauritania will be decisive to validate the qualification.
