After the rejection of the candidate lists for the presidency of the Tunisian Football Federation (FTF), the football body turned to FIFA to find a solution.
A delegation of FIFA and the African Football Confederation (CAF) are, this Tuesday evening in Tunisia to assess the situation and prepare a report on the steps to follow during the next step.
This approach comes at the request of the current federal office, which should have given way to a new BF, but the cancellation of the elective general meeting, which was scheduled for March 9 and the rejection of the three candidate lists, changed the situation.
The FTF announced, on February 23, that after examining the various appeals filed by Maher Ben Aissa, Jalel Tekaya and Wissem Letaif, the three candidate lists in the elections of the next federal office were all rejected.
These three candidates had expressed their wish to chair the FTF by submitting their application file on February 17, 2024 in order to contribute to the elections of the new federal office.
The independent body for the FTF elections had accepted, initially (February 19) the candidacy of Maher Ben Aissa. The next day, Jalel Tekaya’s candidacy had been retained, in turn when Wissem Letaief announced the withdrawal of his list.
Stroke when the FTF announced the rejection of the two lists previously accepted. The appeals filed by the various candidates having all been accepted, the three lists fall into the water and the elections of the new federal office, which were to take place on March 9 were canceled.
They were summoned following the arrest of the former president of the FTF, Wadii Jary, on October 25, 2023.
