2026 World Cup – Qualifiers: Tunisia concludes a historic journey with a 3-0 against Namibia

Already assured of its qualification since the eighth day, Tunisia ended the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup on a perfect note by winning 3-0 against Namibia, this Monday at the Hamadi Agrebi stadium in Radès.

Despite a low attendance in the stands, the Carthage Eagles delivered a solid performance, completing a record run: 28 points, no defeats and zero goals conceded. A continental feat which illustrates the defensive rigor and consistency of the group led by Sami Trabelsi.

The meeting started strong for the Tunisians. After a goal denied to Elias Saad (13′), Ali Abdi opened the scoring with a penalty (28′), obtained by Hannibal Mejbri. Just before the break, Aymen Dahmene made several decisive saves (39′ and 42′), preserving the Tunisian advantage.

In the second half, Tunisia accelerated: a cross from Hannibal Mejbri ended up in the back of the net (56′), before Ferjani Sassi closed the festival with an unstoppable cross strike (63′). Namibia tried to reduce the gap, but Dahmene, imperial (60′, 70′, 76′), allowed the Eagles to maintain their invincibility and their defensive wall intact.

With nine wins and one draw, Tunisia has one of the most impressive runs in the African qualifiers. Trabelsi took the opportunity to give playing time to young players, while consolidating the tactical balance of the group.

Now it’s time to prepare for the 2026 World Cup, which Tunisia will approach with confidence, an iron defense and a fully mature collective.
