Tunisia will field five representatives at the Senior World Karate Championships, which will take place from November 27 to 30 in Egypt, announced the national technical director (DTN), Mohamed Amine Hasnaoui. The Tunisian team hopes to win a world medal while preparing the next generation for the next international events.

The Tunisian delegation will be made up of Wafa Mahjoub (-61 kg), Issra Bettaieb (-68 kg), Mohamed Ayat (-60 kg), Ahmed Rayane Tlili (-75 kg) and Rayane Ghazouani (-84 kg). All athletes will take part in individual kumite events.

According to Hasnaoui, the two female karatekas, Mahjoub and Bettaieb, will join the national selection after their participation in the Islamic Solidarity Games currently being held in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

For their part, Mohamed Ayat and Rayane Ghazouani continue their preparation in Tunis, while Rayane Tlili, based in Germany, will join the group before leaving for Egypt.

The five athletes will complete a collective training course from November 16 to 22 in Ain Draham, the final stage of preparation before flying to Egypt on November 25.

The DTN specified that Tunisia is aiming for a place on the podium, driven by the international experience of Wafa Mahjoub, already a medalist on the African circuit.

But beyond the quest for a medal, this participation has a formative value for young Tunisian karatekas, invited to compete at the highest world level.
