This Saturday, August 16, several regions of the Republic were affected by heavy rains, notably in the governorates of the northeast. The largest quantities have been recorded at Azmour (Nabeul),, Mourouj (Ben Arous),, Fahs (Zaghouan)as well as Hamam El Ghzez (Nabeul governorate)according to the engineer Sarhan Rahali of the National Institute of Meteorology, quoted by Mosaic FM.
The INM had announced the day before a degradation of weather conditions at the national level, with passenger clouds covering the country, but the situation having to evolve towards a more busy sky, particularly on the north, the center-east and the south-east. These areas may experience the appearance of stormy cells, accompanied by sometimes intense rains.
Particular attention is paid to the governorates of Kairouan and Sfax, where precipitation could be particularly important. Hay falls are also possible, although localized. At the same time, the wind, low to moderate in the majority of the territory, will blow relatively very close to the north coast and in the Gulf of Hammamet. At the end of the day, he will gain intensity on the heights and in the south, which can generate whirlpools of sand. The speed of gusts could exceed 80 km/h during storm episodes.
