Urgent measures have been decreed by the authorities in order to secure the site of a random “well” well “in one of the regions of the governorate of Monastir (center-east), dug illegally by a farmer and who witnessed the flow of water and a substance” probably “of nature” gaser “, said the secretary of state in charge of water, Ridha Gabbouj.
This substance is probably of “gas” nature “, because we are still at the stage of scientific uncertainty and we obviously await the results and conclusions of the necessary analyzes and studies aimed at revealing the quality of the site and the well, he added.
In a declaration to the media, Sunday, during its inspection of the well site in the Bou Othman region, located in the delegation of Ouardanine (Monastir governorate), the manager said that he was decided first of all to seal the well and to secure the site at a perimeter of 300 meters.
These two measures were taken in collaboration with the region’s civil and security units. Once sealed and secure, the decisive stage, the work of experts, that of carrying out the analyzes and studies necessary to rule on water quality, gas and geological nature of the soil, added the same source.
For his part, the Governor of Monastir, Mondher Ben Sik estimated “that there are two hypotheses to be provided in the face of this incident”, specifying that it is indeed “a new water table or a natural gas well”.
