As part of his official visit to the governorate of Médenine, The Minister of Tourism, Sofiane Tekaya, went this Sunday, August 3 to the delegation of Ben Guerdane.
Accompanied by local officials, he visited the archaeological site of Henchir Bou Kornine, a coastal area of around 40 hectares located east of the city, by the sea.
This site, still little valued, has great heritage importance and offers considerable potential for the development of sustainable and structured tourism in the region. At the end of his visit, the minister said that this area will be transformed into an “integrated tourist city”, based on solid scientific bases and rigorous planning standards.
“All the parties concerned were heard. The project will take into account environmental, historical, cultural and economic dimensions in order to guarantee a coherent and sustainable achievement, “he said.
This announcement marks a turning point for Ben Guerdane, a long marginalized city of the classic tourist circuit, and could open new prospects for regional development, in particular in the ecotourism and cultural tourism sector.
