The regional director of equipment in Tataouine, Ali Ammar, announced to FM mosaic that the work of the second batch of the Tataouine liaison project at the Tunis – OS JDIR motorway has reached a rate of progress of 87 %at a cost of around 40 million dinars.
The end of the work is planned for End of 2025while the first lot of the project was provisionally received in July 2024.
Launched in 2019, this project is jointly funded by the Tunisian authorities and the World Bank for Reconstruction and Development, for a global budget of approximately 120 million dinars.
The new motorway link, long from 55 kilometerswill link Tataouine to the A1 motorway crossing the delegations of Northern,, Ghomrasen And Bir Lahmar in the governorate of Tataouine, as well as the delegation of South Medenine in the governorate of Médenine.
This infrastructure is part of a program to create a quick road to 2 × 2 lanescapable of responding to the increase in traffic, improving the quality of the road network and strengthening the capacities of reception and development of infrastructure in the region.
