The gathering of union executives in the private sector in Sfax, held yesterday Saturday at the headquarters of the Regional Labor Union, ratified the principle of a regional strike in the private sector in Sfax.
In a statement made this Sunday at the TAP agency, Mohamed Abbas, deputy secretary general of the Regional Labor Union in Sfax, explained that this decision comes in response to the persistent refusal of the Ministry of Social Affairs to open a new series of social negotiations, both on the financial and organizational aspects. The objective is to claim wage increases for the 1920s, 2026 and 2027, in a context marked by the deterioration of purchasing power, the rise in inflation and the prices.
“Despite the Union’s repeated calls for the opening of a new cycle of negotiations, the ministry continues to dodge the issue since the only meeting held last May,” he deplored.
He also recalled that the latest social negotiations on the organizational aspect dates back to 2008 and had affected 55 collective agreements.
Mohamed Abbas said that the date of the regional strike in the private sector in Sfax will be set later by the Executive Office of the Regional Labor Union.
