The Municipality of Manouba announced, in a press release published on Monday, July 7, 2025, a new regulatory measure imposing the closure of holiday rooms, sports spaces (public and private), as well as cultural and artistic places at midnight throughout the summer period.

A decision motivated by the complaints of residents

Intervening on the waves of “Ahla Sbeh”, Fethi Derouaz, secretary general of the municipality, said that this decision was taken in response to repeated complaints of the inhabitants, several of these establishments being located in residential areas. The objective is to guarantee the right to rest of the citizens and to preserve public tranquility, often disturbed by nocturnal noise pollution.

Fight against noise pollution

The municipality indicates that this measure aims to supervise night activities and to limit overflows, in particular the noise pollution that multiplies during the high season. Overcomes having been noted in certain establishments, the local community deemed it necessary to intervene.

Strict application and planned sanctions

The implementation of this decision will be provided by the security forces, the municipal police and the services of the municipality. In the event of an offense, offenders will first receive a warning, but if the measurement is not respected, seizures of sound equipment will be made and fines from 60 dinars will be imposed.

The municipality calls on all the operators concerned to respect the scheduled schedules, stressing that this initiative aims above all to establish a balance between summer animation and respect for the living environment of residents.
