A heated controversy has erupted in recent hours in the governorate of Nabeul, after the dissemination on social networks of several publications concerning the validity of an international university certification which served as the basis for the distinction of a citizen by the governor of the region.

According to IFM, the person honored would have been distinguished because of obtaining a master’s degree in international journalism. However, publications relayed online quickly questioned the nature and authenticity of this diploma, provoking a heated debate in local and digital circles.

Faced with this situation, the deputy in the Assembly of People’s Representatives, Abdelkader Ben Zineb, reacted through a publication on his Facebook page. He expresses his astonishment at the contradictory information circulating around this certification and calls on the public prosecutor to open an official investigation in order to shed light on this matter.

The parliamentarian insists on the need to verify the conformity of the diploma with the legal frameworks in force, as well as compliance with the administrative procedures applicable during official distinction ceremonies. He emphasizes that the clarification of these elements is essential to preserve the credibility of public institutions.

Principles of transparency and accountability

Abdelkader Ben Zineb also emphasizes the importance of enshrining the principles of transparency and accountability, believing that any failure or approximation in this type of initiatives risks eroding citizen confidence. According to him, the tribute paid to individuals must be based on rigorous, verified and indisputable data.

While awaiting possible legal or administrative consequences, this case once again illustrates the impact of social networks in the debate on official decisions, as well as the growing sensitivity of public opinion to questions of probity and institutional recognition.
