The Ministry of Equipment and Housing held, on Friday, a working session devoted to monitoring the project to double regional road No. 117, linking Djerba to Zarzis over a distance of 6.3 kilometers. Objective: transform this vital axis into a smoother and safer two-way road.
Chaired by Minister Slah Zouari, the meeting provided an opportunity to take stock of the progress of the work. The manager insisted on the need to accelerate the pace of the construction site and to mobilize the necessary human and logistical resources in order to meet delivery deadlines.
According to the ministry, additional time was granted to the group of companies responsible for the work to intensify interventions and ensure the continuity of the site, particularly with regard to public lighting, bituminous concrete surfacing and road signage.
A strategic project for the South-East
The project involves the construction of a double-lane roadway, each 7 meters wide, separated by central lighting over the entire section. It also includes the doubling of the bridge located at kilometer point 24.8, as well as the installation of new safety equipment and horizontal and vertical signaling.
Estimated at 48 million dinars, this project aims to strengthen the flow of traffic and the safety of users on one of the busiest roads in southern Tunisia, particularly during the summer period.
