Irregular migration continues to make victims. Thirteen bodies of migrants from the coasts of Jebeniana (Sfax) were drafted this Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Mahdia.
The thirteen bodies were drafted after the sinking of their boats at 9 miles east of Chebba (Mahdia), said Farid Ben Jha, spokesperson for Monastir and Mahdia.
He said, according to the testimony of two survivors, that there were 42 Sudanese migrants aboard the boat, which was sinking, stressing, that these migrants were in possession of an HCR asylum card.
The investigating judge issued a judicial investigation to the maritime research brigade of the Mahdia maritime district to conduct the investigations.
Maritime units are currently continuing research operations to save survivors or recover other bodies.
