The UGTT calls to dismantle smuggling networks

Tunis | The Tunisian Labor Union (UGTT) published, this Tuesday, February 10, a press release, signed by the assistant secretary general of the union, Noureddine Taboubi, in which she supports the legitimate demands of the inhabitants Dhiba, in the governorate of Tataouine and Ben Gerdane, in the governorate of Médenine, after the popular movements which took place in these regions.

The UGTT executive office declares to follow with interest and concern the serious consequences which resulted from popular movements and expresses the following points:

She expresses her sentence and expresses her feelings of compassion after the death of the young SABER Malyen (shot dead) while expressing her condolences to her family and wishing the wounded a speedy recovery. The Central Union expresses its categorical rejection of the use of bullets and chevrotine against popular protests, and again requests the total ban on these methods in Tunisia.
It underlines the right to the inhabitants of these regions to protest peaceful and to demand the right to work, development and social justice and requests from power the rapid establishment of urgent measures in favor of these two regions and other marginalized regions. The power station also calls for an investigation to reveal the circumstances and the abuses committed during the clashes.
The UGTT requests to take measures to ensure the development of border areas and guarantee the rights of workers in these regions, as provided for in international conventions.
It denounces the fire of police stations and the homes of certain security security and calls on the inhabitants of these regions to preserve public and private property and to refuse to be drawn by calls for violence.
The UGTT expresses its support for a peaceful popular struggle for legitimate demands, but however calls for smuggling networks and putting an end to the activities of smugglers who seek to sow chaos in favor of their own interests.
