The services of the regional delegation to the agricultural development of Kasserine released, last Thursday, 1,200 ladybugs on plantations of barbarism figs infested by the Cochenille, in several farms in the locality of Krâa El Hamra, in Sbeïtla.
According to Omar Saadaoui, head of the department of plant production within the regional delegation, this initiative is part of the biological fight against the proliferation of this devastating insect.
Experience will be extended to other farms located in the delegations of Sbeïtla and Sbiba, as well as to the areas of around the Production Region of the Barbary Figure in Zelfane.
Led in coordination with the Higher Institute of Agricultural Sciences of Chott Mariem (Sousse), this operation is the second of its kind after releaseing the 1,000 ladybugs last December in Jelma (governorate of Sidi Bouzid), on the border with Kasserine.
