Two peaceful steps took place this Wednesday morning April 16, 2025 in the city of Mazzouna, under the governorate of Sidi Bouzid. During these steps, the inhabitants wanted to express their dissatisfaction after the death of three students under the rubble of a high school wall.
The first, organized by women in the region, demanded Mazzouna’s right to development and called the President of the Republic to go there to see the situation and listen to the concerns of the inhabitants.
The second walk brought together various components of civil society, students and parents of students from the Mazzouna delegation, in particular those residing in the city. Participants have brandished slogans claiming the release of the director of the Lycée de Mazzouna, arrested following the partial collapse of a wall of the establishment, as well as the right to development for the region.
The two demonstrations traveled the main street and the neighboring arteries, according to the declarations of Ali Jad, member of the Tunisian League for Human Rights in the region, in Mosaic FM.
He added that the city of Mazzouna is currently experiencing strong tension, and that its inhabitants insist that the President of the Republic comes to see the situation. He also reported a reinforced security presence on the scene.
