The restoration work on the facade of the ramparts of the Kasbah overlooking the old port of Bizerte started in May 2023, should be completed at the end of this year.
This project is carried out for an envelope of 400 thousand dinars by the association for the safeguard of the medina of Bizerte, in coordination with the National Institute of Heritage.
Safouène Ben Issa, president of the association, indicated that an artistic renovation will be carried out to ensure, at the same time, the facelift of the facade and the preservation of the authentic cachet of the walls which date from 1400 AD. He added that this project also concerns the restoration of the evacuation channels and the lighting of the places, in addition to the establishment of urban signage.
Ben Issa said that young people from the Ben Arous building training center and the Bizerte training and learning center participate in this project and the restoration of the mausoleum, Sidi Ben Issa.
Cleaning campaigns will be organized, on June 9, 10 and 11, at the Old Port and a conference will take place on June 14th 15, on the initiative of the Bizerte Medina safeguard association.
