After a night of clashes between protesters and security forces, calm returned this Thursday, June 4 in Douz.
A witness to the scene said to the TAP agency that police were won over by protesters who blocked the city’s main road.
During clashes, the security forces used the use of tear gas against the protesters.
It was following an intervention by the security forces, this Tuesday, June 2, to prevent young people from Douz from organizing a sit-in near the petroleum field of the Perenco company in the south of the city, that the clashes broke out.
These young people have claimed the right to development and employment, by calling the oil companies in the region to contribute to economic development.
