The security forces led, early this Friday, September 5, a large -scale operation in Bab Jebli (Sousse) to end the illegal occupation of public space by itinerant merchants and sellers of Fries. The intervention ended in the complete release of the premises and the implementation of preventive measures.
As of dawn, various units of the regional inspection of national security security, supported by the regional ordering group, invested the Bab Jebli area. Objective: to remove the anarchic stalls that occupied sidewalks and streets.
Dismantling of informal points of sale
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Regional Inspectorate for National Security and Security Managers, all informal points of sale have been dismantled. The places were then cleaned and disinfected, before the implementation of permanent patrols to prevent a return from the facilities.
The municipality of Sousse reiterated its call to the traders concerned to join the space which was reserved for them in Souk Al Ahad. It insists on the importance of ensuring a legal framework, both to preserve urban order and to guarantee sellers more organized working conditions.
Restore the fluidity and cleanliness of public spaces
The Bab Jebli district, a shopping heart of Sousse, has been marked for several years by the proliferation of informal trade. Wild display, including used clothing (“strikes”) and various articles, created urban congestion and hygiene problems.
These security operations are part of a series of actions taken by local authorities to restore the fluidity and cleanliness of public spaces.
