The Sfax station was the target, at the dawn of this Thursday, August 21, 2025, of acts of vandalism which caused significant material damage, especially on the main facade. The incident was documented by photos and videos shared massively on social networks.

According to the first relayed images, the station underwent major degradations after an assault occurring early this Thursday. Videos show break in windows and significant damage to infrastructure, plunging the station into a state of desolation.

Opening of an investigation

A source from the Ministry of Transport confirmed to Mosaic FM that a technical and administrative delegation had been dispatched to Sfax to assess the extent of the damage.

She also announced the opening of an investigation to identify the authors and understand the exact circumstances of this act.

Reminder of the facts

According to Diwan FM, which reports the declarations of a source from the National Society of Tunisian Railways (SNCFT), the scenes of vandalism and chaos were committed by a group of young people, attacating SNCFT agents, equipment as well as the police and panicing among the travelers.

The source cited by Diwan FM confirmed that the authors were part of a group of young people aged 16 to 25. The police intervened to try to restore calm and limit material damage.
