The Errahma mosque, located in Sidi Bouzid, will be closed from Saturday, April 26 due to a state of degradation deemed critical.
The decision, announced by the Regional Directorate of Religious Affairs, follows a technical inspection confirming a real risk of collapse, aggravated by the recent earthquake that has rocked the region.
Maâsouda Hosni, regional director of religious affairs, told the TAP agency that this preventive closure aims to ensure the safety of the faithful and the neighborhood.
In the same momentum, an emergency intervention was validated to consolidate one of the mausoleums in the region also weakened.
These measures are part of a series of inspections carried out to assess the impact of extreme climatic conditions and seismic tremors on religious infrastructure.
