Activists of civil society in Redeyef launched, in a statement published yesterday, Wednesday, February 26, 2025, a call to a protest movement scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, in the city, in order to claim a series of requests concerning the region.
The press release in question stresses that this protest movement is motivated by what it describes as “growing dynamic of local marginalization”, illustrated by unemployment, recurring water cuts, environmental pollution as well as the precariousness of social services and infrastructure.
The signatories of the press release insist that these popular demonstrations aim to demand dignity and social justice, while launching an alarm signal from the authorities.
The claims made are as follows:
Ensure fair and global development, including employment, health, education, infrastructure, the environment and the preservation of water resources.
Allocate part of the phosphate income to the development of mining cities.
In depth revise the economic, social and political model in place.
