The Local Union of Agriculture and Fisheries of Menzel Bouzelfa in the governorate of Nabeil published a press release announcing that the Bzikh wadi dam will be decompressed today, Monday, from 10 am to noon.
The local union called on all farmers and residents of the region to be cautious and to take their precautions in order to avoid any potential damage.
According to the press release, this measure aims to evacuate the accumulated quantities of silt in the dam.
In a statement to Mosaic, Bayrem Hamada, president of the local union of Menzel Bouzelfa, said that this is a preventive measure and that this does not mean that the dam has reached its maximum capacity.
According to him, the current filling capacity of the Bzikh wadi dam is estimated at around 40 to 50 % of its total storage capacity, which is 5 million cubic meters.
