The office of the National Constituent Assembly decided, this Monday, August 18, to apply the rules by operating deductions from the compensation of deputies in proportion to the number of absences in plenary sessions. What make the deputies referred to by this decision react.
The TAP agency reports, in fact, that most of the deputies at the opening of the discussion session of the law on the fight against terrorism have insurgent against this decision. For them, this decision is “only an electoral campaign before the hour” and “a measure intended to penalize the deputies of the distant regions”.
If the question of the absenteeism of deputies is put back on the carpet, it is however the application of the internal regulations, today which arouses questions like the deputy Mahmoud El-May (al-Joumhouri) who “wondered if this late reaction did not carry out an electoral campaign”.
For other deputies such as Hichem Hosni (Democratic Group), it was necessary to apply the internal regulations and without any derogation, arguing that the deputies had not been able to benefit from certain rights set out by the internal regulations, such as that of having one week per month for contacts in their respective regions.
