The second section of the X20 radial ring road, about 3 kilometers long, was officially put into service this Tuesday in the governorate of Manouba. This segment connects the regional road n ° 38 (Béjaoua – Oued Ellil axis) to the Douar Hicher exchanger (route de Chenoua).
The entry into operation of this section marks a new step in the progress of this strategic project, after the lifting of technical and administrative obstacles having delayed its finalization, said the Minister of Equipment and Housing, Slah Zouari.
The Minister indicated that the objective is to finalize the entire project before the end of 2025, by accelerating the remaining work on a last 4 km section located in the governorate of Ariana.
Rocade X20 is presented as the second peripheral belt of the Grand Tunis. It covers 15.5 kilometers through the governorates of Tunis, Manouba and Ariana, at an overall cost estimated at 140 million dinars, not to mention the additional expenses linked to landscaping, art works and technical facilities.
With an advancement rate exceeding 90 %, this project aims to streamline circulation in densely populated urban areas, in particular by reducing pressure on the main axes.
To date, two sections of the X20 ring road, located in the governorates of Tunis and the Manouba, are already operational, representing approximately 8 kilometers of lane put into service.
