A unit of the French Navy managed, in the evening of Saturday, October 4, to save two trawler sailors Mohamed Kamelgone missing since Thursday evening off the Kerkennah archipelago, about 30 nautical miles east of the island (governorate of Sfax).
According to a press release from the Ministry of Defense, the National Center for the Coordination of Sea Research and Rescue Operations immediately activated a research plan mobilizing several naval and air units. The operation, carried out in close coordination with the various stakeholders, made it possible to locate the survivors after a vast rattle at sea.
Two fishermen were drafted by a navy unit, while three other crew members were rescued by a trawler nearby.
The five survivors were transferred to the Sfax main naval base abroad from a high sea building in the French Navy, before being taken to the hospital to receive the necessary care.
