The mayor of Bizerte Kamel Ben Amara was removed from his duties, Thursday, December 1, 2022 on presidential decree for various reasons.
According to the said decision, published in the JORT, the mayor was dismissed for “having committed serious faults, violated the law and for involved in the public interest”.
Kamel Ben Amara reacted to this decision, saying that he was still the legitimate mayor and that he was going to seize the administrative court.
The deputy mayor indicated, at the microphone of Mosaic FM, this Friday, December 2, 2022, that the decision was made because “he refused to decorate the streets on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Republic in Bizerte during the evacuation festival”.
The mayor added that the decision of his revocation was precipitated following the complaint filed by the town hall against the French State, to repair the damage following the crimes committed in 1961.
