The Minister of Agriculture, Hydraulic Resources and Fisheries, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, ordered the opening of an investigation into irregularities reported within the “dairy farms” company in Majaz Al Bab, in the governorate of Béja.
During this visit, he noted the presence of dilapidated buildings and defective equipment, calling for their rapid rehabilitation. Due to the irregularities noted within this company, he ordered the opening of an investigation and taking appropriate measures against those responsible in the event of shortcomings. Appropriate measures will be taken against offenders, according to a statement from the ministry.
The Minister also went to the agricultural cooperative Al Iyadh located in Oued Zarga, in the delegation of Testour. The minister insisted on the importance of guaranteeing the health of herds and providing the necessary quantities of animal food in order to maintain stable dairy production.
The press release also specifies that Ben Cheikh visited the company specializing in the production of improved seeds (Sosem) in Béja Sud. He examined the certified seed stocks, observed the different stages of their packaging, in particular for durum wheat intended for sowing, and supervised the distribution and shipment of the quantities of seeds to Béja and other regions. The Minister insisted on the importance of accelerating the seed packaging process in order to meet the needs of farmers as soon as possible.
During this tour, he was accompanied by the governor of Béja, Ahmed Ben Kharrat, as well as several central and regional officials. Together, they inspected certain infrastructure in poor condition, as well as obsolete or defective equipment and machines. Ben Cheikh stressed the need to ensure their maintenance and rehabilitation.
