The municipal services of the governorate of Bizerte supervised, this Monday, April 21, 2025, the execution of a judicial decision ordering the evacuation of the central market of Bizerte, in order to prevent any risk of collapse of its weakened walls.
Regarding the fate of traders and owners of shops installed inside the market, the municipal services of Bizerte have specified that their equipment and goods will be transferred and secure in other spaces, including the Salaheddine Bouchoucha market, the El Bhira market and the municipal market of Zarzouna, until the end of the rehabilitation works.
In a declaration relayed this Monday, April 21 by Mosaic radio, the secretary general responsible for the management of the municipality of Bizerte, stressed that the decision was taken after the completion of all the required legal procedures, and in coordination with all the parties concerned.
It should be noted that this measure is part of a broader context of strengthening safety measures after the drama occurred recently at the Lycée de Mazzouna (governorate of Sidi Bouzid), where the collapse of a wall caused the death of three students and injured two others.
This tragic incident has prompted many municipalities to make preventive decisions to avoid similar accidents.
