Construction work on the central fruit and vegetable market in the Sidi Arfa area was officially launched this Wednesday. The project, with a overall cost of 10.9 million dinars, extends over an area of approximately 11,100 m², including 5000 m² covered.
The ceremony took place in the presence of the governor of Kairouan, the secretary general in charge of municipal management, as well as several regional officials and representatives of technical services.
The construction of this market had been approved more than five years ago, with an initial funding of 5.8 million dinars included in the integrated development budget for the north and southern Kairouan. The project has been readjusted, in particular with modifications to the plot intended for its construction.
Its implementation was however delayed by several obstacles, including a lack of funding, before being relaunched in its current form.
