Sfax Governor Fakher Fakhfakh said he will contact the government’s chief, Najla Bouden and the Minister of the Interior, Taoufik Charfeddine to officially request army intervention in order to secure the roads and installations for the transport and storage of waste.
He explained, at the microphone of Shems FM, this Wednesday, November 9, 2022, that the components of civil society and regional actors asked, during a meeting held at the headquarters of the governorate, the securing of waste transport.
In addition, Fakhfakh recalled that a call for tenders was issued in order to build a garbage processing plant. A discharge was created at the port of Sfax while waiting for the establishment of said factory. “However, it was necessary to suspend the activity of the portfoliation of the port, due to the importance of the exports of the fish,” he said.
The Governor of Sfax denounced the people who were able to suspend the operation of the transfer center, describing them as “saboters, dries and bandits”.
And to add: “I know the people who did it. We have all photographed them and this will allow us to identify them. They threatened to burn the garbage transfer trucks. ”
