The National Institute of Meteorology said in a press release published last night that the seismological stations under the Institute recorded, in the evening of Wednesday, April 9, 2025, a telluric shield of magnitude 4.3 on the Richter scale south-east of the Meknassi delegation at 8:56 p.m.
His epicenter was located south-east of the Meknassi delegation, in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid. Several residents of the region felt the shock.
The head of the regional meteorology unit in Sidi Bouzid, Abdelmajid Dhouzi, said that the epicenter was 9 km south-east of the Meknassi delegation and 13 km west of the Mazzouna delegation.
In a declaration on national radio, he indicated that the shock had caused a movement of panic among the inhabitants, pushing them to leave their homes. The tremor was also felt in several neighboring localities.
Note that Meknassi has known more than six seismic tremors since the start of the year, without any of them having caused human losses or material damage, despite their recurrence.
