The observation work carried out for three years by the non -governmental organization Al Bawsala, on the activities of the Constituent Assembly, contributed in an interesting way to transparency in the democratic transition.
This work has been expanding since January 2014 to Tunisian municipalities, throughout the territory of the Republic. A website, called Baladia Marsad, was launched this Wednesday, July 22, based on this prior observation.
Amira Yahyaoui, head in Al Bawsala, indicates the objective of the Observatory of Tunisian Municipalities is to observe all municipalities by the end of 2015.
Municipalities treated so far are part of 3 governorates:
Tataouine
Kasserine
Siliana
“Our goal is to observe all the municipalities by the end of 2015 and this obviously before the municipal elections. Al Bawsala we are convinced that the real democracy is played at the local level and that the biggest electoral test will be that of the municipal elections” specifies Yahyaoui on its Facebook wall.
On the other hand, it promises that for the next parliament, the organization will submit an inventory based on the facts, the reforms to be undertaken and a planning of local transformation.
