The security units under the municipal police station of El Jem, in coordination with the Mahdia prosecution, proceeded this Friday, January 31, 2025, to the arrest of the owner of a warehouse in the region.
The latter was accused of illegally holding 57 bottles of domestic gas, as well as 60 liters of subsidized oil, with the aim of monopolizing them.
The security forces, accompanied by regional trade agents, seized the products during the search of the place. After consulting the representative of the prosecution, the individual was placed in police custody for “illegal speculation and monopoly”.
This arrest occurs in a context of shortage of domestic gas, which particularly strikes the country during this winter period.
