Acts of vandalism in a college following the suicide of a student

The suicide of a 14 -year -old pupil caused serious troubles at the Farhat Hached college in Ghardimaou and acts of vandalism which required the intervention of the police.

The suicide, Thursday evening, of a 14 -year -old student, who hanged himself, sparked, Friday, February 2, 2024, a wave of anger among his comrades from Farhat Hachedimaou college. Serious troubles, inside and outside the establishment, which have reached a degree of violence ever reached in a school.

College equipment has been vandalized or even burnt down. Everything went there, offices, chairs, cupboards, computers, documents. These acts of vandalism required the intervention of the police in emergency to stop this surge of violence.

Following these unfortunate events, the public prosecutor at the Jendouba court of first instance ordered the opening of an investigation into these vandalism acts, which affected public goods and which have hampered the functioning of a public service.

It is the Ghardimaou’s research and investigation brigade that was responsible for carrying out the investigation to determine the responsibilities and the persons involved in the incident.

Currently, the investigating judge has ordered preventive detention of college officials in the context of the young man’s suicide, whose causes are still unknown.
