The Municipality of Douz of the Governorate of Kébili will soon launch a pilot project for the collection of household waste.

From May, it intends to make available to residents of the region “garbage cans with a capacity of 200 liters, each, which will be devoted to the collection of household waste by home for two days to be unloaded by cleaning agents”, according to an announcement made by the president of the special delegation of Douz, Omar Thabet at the TAP agency.

This pilot project, called “a trash can for each home”, will first be carried out in one of the city’s districts. In the event of success, this project will be generalized, in the second phase, to all districts, the objective being to strengthen the attributes of the cleanliness and embellishment of the districts, by getting rid of the large containers made available to citizens.

The new trash cans will be issued free of charge to the inhabitants of the region who will have to collect household waste there. The municipality provided 80 trash cans for the first phase of this pilot project.
