A gigantic fire broke out, in the evening of Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in a residential and administrative building. The fire was under control at the dawn on Thursday.
It was in the early hours of dawn that the civil protection units were able to master the fire in a building consisting of a ground floor and 3 upper floors on the Soltania road, km 4.5 in Sfax, Chaker district.
Colonel Marouene Ghazouani, head of the civil protection unit of the city of Sfax, said yesterday, on the waves of Mosaic FM, that the fire declared itself from a warehouse of a company to sell metallurgical, wood and painting.
This gigantic fire required the evacuation of the inhabitants trapped in the building and reinforcements from the governorates of Mahdia, Kairouan and Sidi Bouzid knowing that the fire has spread to other buildings.
According to Brigadier General Hatem Boubaker, Regional Director of Civil Protection in Sfax, the fire is under control, but a civil protection unit remained on the lookout.
