The general surgery of the Tataouine Regional Hospital carried out, last week, a major advance by succeeding for the first time a removal operation of a stomach in the endoscopic route. A medical feat made possible thanks to the know-how of the establishment’s medical and paramedical staff.
This intervention, carried out without the use of conventional surgery, marks a turning point in improving health care in the region. Using the technique of treatment with endoscopy, medical teams were able to considerably reduce the risk of post-operative complications, limit blood loss and speed up patient recovery.
Beyond its medical scope, this success symbolizes an assertive desire to strengthen surgical services in the regions of the interior of the country, by focusing on local skills.
